finally have a minute to write

I have been busy.
And while I get email on my iphone, I need to visit the internet cafe to post here.

Many things to write about. School is fine. My spanish is getting better. The city if really loaded with american students studying spanish. I mean LOADED. there is a super night life. Mine varies, some nights i hang out downtown with a few women and some nights I make it home by about ten thirty, and it is still light then.

the medieval city is really great. I walk around and around that part of the city in awe. Tonight i visited a convent/church and its was really wonderful. There is also allot of art and galleries near the medieval university, which is in the oler part of the city.

this past weekend we went to Lisbon and that was almost exotic. Many africanos, brazilianos, and much art in the streets. It was not like Spain; more like France and Italy. We stayed in a wonderul brand new hotel and had a good time.

I have tried to find yoga, but these spanish people do yoga at ten thirty at night, at which time I have had 2 glasses of ribera wine, which is delicious and am exhausted. so I do yoga at home on my mat with audio lessions on my iphone.

I write to Andrew almost every day. He is fine.

This weekend is the highlight of my trip: we go to Granada, Cordoba and Sevilla. These are the cities that were built by the Muslims in about the nineth thru the twelfth centuries. I cannot wait to see them.

My living arrangements are fine. I live with a woman who is a litle older than me, and she is very kind to me.

Of course, I have bought shoes. July is big sale month here, everything one sale.

Please drop me a note.

I begin my second week

well
it is one week since I left USA.

yesterday, Sunday, I went on a day trip to Segovia, which was wonderful
it was about one hour away by bus.

we had a tour of the city, we visited the palace of Isabella (of Ferdinand and Isabella fame)
and it was really lovely. Then I had a great lunch of the traditional food of Segovia, roasted suckling pig with white asparagus. It was good.

I go to school each day from nine to two.
I have one class in cultura y civilizacion and 3 horas in espanol, gramatica and conversacion.
I understand fairly well, my speaking is coming along.

I live with a single woman about my age out in the neighborhoods on an Avenida se llama
Avenida Salamanca. It is a long walk to the cento, but worth the exercise.

It does not get dark until ten or ten thirty at night. Right now it is ten oclock and I am in the internet cafe and then I will walk home.

The program I am in has about 200 students from URI and UMASS combined. Most are younger than me, but I enjoy the company of the few graduate students and spanish teachers who are also on the trip. I went to an outdoors jazz concert last night in the plaza in front of the old cathedral. Allot of concerts here.

Weather is great very dry, allot of warm light and cool mornings.

So far, I am very well.

please take a minute and write to me. I miss all of you very much.
